Moody Air Force Base provides Valdosta with a deep pool of military and defense talent, much of it directly applicable to the aviation/aerospace industry. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, located on the base, provides excellent training in programs ranging from aeronautical science to supply chain management. In addition, Valdosta Regional Airport has the third-longest runway in the state.
