Valdosta, Georgia – St. Louis-based Express Scripts, a pharmacy benefits manager responsible for the pharmacy benefit for more than 100 million Americans, announced today that it plans to hire up to 125 home-based customer service agents in Valdosta to help manage patient requests.
“We are excited to welcome Express Scripts to the Valdosta-Lowndes County business community. Valdosta being selected speaks volumes about the quality of workforce available in our region,” said Andrea Schruijer, Executive Director Valdosta-Lowndes County Industrial Authority. “New jobs add to the city’s tax base, and boost local businesses.”
Express Scripts will host a job fair in the upcoming weeks where applicants will be interviewed. New employees will receive training, which will be facilitated at the Georgia Department of Labor Career Center, located at 221 South Ashley Street. Most of the open positions are posted on the company’s Web Site at www.express-scripts.com/careers.
Express Scripts makes the use of prescription drugs safer and more affordable. It provides pharmacy-benefit management services to thousands of clients -- the businesses, health plans, unions and government agencies that provide benefits for Americans and their families.

The Industrial Authority has been involved in discussions with the company since November.
Valdosta, Georgia – The Valdosta-Lowndes County Industrial Authority (VLCIA) with Dario Orlando President, President of Steeda Autosports attended the The Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) International Trade Team’s Global Market Insights seminar with 10 International Directors from overseas offices, including; Brazil, Canada, China, Chile, Europe, Israel, Japan, Korea, Mexico and the United Kingdom.
Georgia’s international representatives are experts in their fields and keep the state of Georgia globally competitive by helping make Georgia communities the leading location for international investment, and outstanding source for quality products and services. Existing Georgia Companies engaged in international trade or considering growth through international trade had the opportunity during the Go Global seminar to learn first-hand about strategic world markets, and the opportunity to explore export and investment opportunities.
“The state of Georgia’s Go Global presentation provided a wealth of information on the economic conditions of international markets,” said Mr. Orlando. “As well as provided the opportunity for Steeda to establish a relationship with representatives in Georgia’s International Offices in China where Steeda is currently emerging in the marketplace for auto performance parts.”

Through the resources at the Department of Economic Development, we were able to introduce an existing industry to key partners that will assist them, increasing foreign trade here in Valdosta-Lowndes County.”

Valdosta, GA - Azalea Health will award up to two (2) senior students of the Wiregrass Georgia Technical College’s Health Information Technology program $500 of funding to take the Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) exam.
In recognition of the Wiregrass Georgia Technical College’s (Wiregrass) Health Information Technology (HIT) program and its dedication to the advancement of the HIT industry, Azalea Health (Azalea) will award a scholarship of $500 to up to two senior students per semester who exhibit exemplary academic behavior. The scholarship funds will be put towards the fee to take the Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) exam. The RHIT exam will enable program graduates to gain national certification in the field, and increase the graduate’s marketability for employment in the healthcare information technology industry.
Azalea works closely with Wiregrass in multiple ways: Azalea’s CEO serves on Wiregrass’ Foundation South Board of Trustees, and both CFO and CEO serve as Technical Advisors for the HIT program, which received accreditation in October of 2012. Wiregrass Executive Director for Institutional Advancement & Foundation South, Dr. Penelope Schmidt, explains what Azalea’s guidance and scholarship opportunity means to the program: “Wiregrass Georgia Technical College Foundation South is grateful for this very generous scholarship offered by Azalea for HIT students. Azalea has hired numerous graduates of the HIT program at Wiregrass due to the high level of training students receive throughout the program. The scholarship will be available to senior students in the Spring Semester of 2013. Applicants must be a full-time student at Wiregrass and have a minimum of 3.30 GPA.
